Earlier this year, we shared Luke’s Story: Building a Better Future on our website, where he spoke honestly about reaching breaking point and finding hope again through The Carpenter’s Arms. His ongoing journey is also featured in our latest pamphlet and we wanted to share his update with you here.
“I was lost in addiction to crack for 11 years and in that time I lost everything – my job as a supervisor at a recycling plant, my friends, and even the relationship with my mum. I had been to The Carpenter’s Arms before but left too soon. When I returned, I came with a new determination to change my life.
With the support of The Carpenter’s Arms, I completed Phase 2 of the programme. During that time, I worked as a trusted kitchen manager, restored my relationship with my mum, and began to see a future for myself that I never thought possible.
After completing Phase 2, I moved on to study at Mattersey, a Christian college. There I am working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care with the aim of becoming a support worker, as well as studying theology to deepen my faith. I also volunteer on outreach in Rotherham, helping at a food bank and supporting people who are homeless or struggling financially.”
This year, Luke also graduated our programme at our annual celebration, marking another milestone in his journey. We’re incredibly proud of the steps he continues to take and look forward to seeing all he will achieve.
