The Carpenter’s Arms has launched a new clothes shop at its Wharncliffe Road property to support men challenged by addiction to transition into a new chapter of their lives.
We currently has a space for donated clothes but are now aiming to transform it into a welcoming, organised shop experience for residents.
As Richard Spence, CEO of The Carpenter’s Arms, points out “When they first arrive at the doors of our charity, many of the men have few possessions or clothes to their name. The clothes shop provides them with clean, appropriate clothing upon arrival and throughout their time in the programme.
“Residents’ bodies often change during the programme as they work on rebuilding their health. This initiative ensures they can exchange clothes for different sizes as needed.”
The new and improved clothes shop will feature clothes organised by size and type, displayed on hangers for easy selection. It will also provide the residents with the opportunity to learn valuable life skills, such as how to launder, iron, and care for their clothing.
To bring this vision to life, the charity has published a wish list of items from clothes rails and clothes hangers to irons and ironing boards, t-shirts, jeans, trousers, jumpers, coats and trainers.
